My project is a close study of the impact of environmental changes on daily life and survival of people living in a suburban/rural area along the fringes of Lagos, Nigeria. In contrast to the pool of plastic waste that clogs the waterways in urban centres, it is the water hyacinth, a plant that constitutes an environmental menace. In the same way, solutions on how to monetise waste is solving waste challenges in urban centres. Locals gather these water reeds that make the water body unconducive for fish habitat and impossible for fishing, to make craft produce like bags, hats and even for biogas for domestic use
